Dorothy Guinn Obituary – Pampa, Texas Woman Dies in Tragic I-40 Crash in Gray County
The community of Pampa is mourning the tragic loss of Dorothy Guinn, 81, who died in a devastating head-on collision on Interstate 40 in Gray County on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. near mile marker 140, just west of McLean. Authorities reported that a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Guinn, was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander.
Dorothy Guinn was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The second driver, identified as 60-year-old Ester Everson of Amarillo, also tragically lost her life at the scene. Both women were alone in their vehicles at the time of the collision.
The incident led to a temporary closure of eastbound lanes on Interstate 40 as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene. The roadway has since reopened, while investigations into the cause of the crash remain ongoing.
