New Matamoras, OH – April 6, 2026 – The New Matamoras community is mourning the tragic loss of 25-year-old Hailey Ball, who died Monday morning in a collision on State Route 7 in Independence Township, Washington County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. near Route 7 and Archers Fork Road. Ball was driving her 2005 Ford Focus northbound when a southbound 2023 Mack dump truck, operated by 56-year-old Anthony Gump of Folsom, West Virginia, struck her vehicle. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Ball was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck driver was unharmed.
Authorities, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Office, continue to investigate the crash. Officials have confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision.
