TIVERTON, R.I. — The Tiverton community is mourning the untimely loss of Matthew J. Poirier, 40, who tragically died in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
According to the Tiverton Police Department, the accident occurred around 8:36 p.m. near Eight Rod Way and Morning Dove Drive. Emergency responders discovered a red Toyota RAV4 had veered off the roadway and struck a tree, sustaining severe damage. Poirier, the sole occupant, was extricated by Tiverton Rescue personnel and transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
